Boys State

va boys state

At American Legion Boys State, participants are exposed to the rights and privileges, the duties and the responsibilities of a franchised citizen. The training is objective and practical with city, county and state governments operated by the students elected to the various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, chorus and recreational programs.

American Legion Post 130 is proud to support Virginia Boys State.  In 2014, Post 130 will be sending 11 boys to Richmond to participate in the program.   The post provides support by paying for the cost of the program.  Funding for each boy is drawn from Post 130’s account and from generous donations of civic groups and private individuals.  If you are interested in sponsoring a participant to attend Boys State through Post 130, please call us at 703-533-1945 and ask for Harry Shovlin.
